Arrests under State of Emergency cross 1500

Port-of-Spain: National Security personnel say a total of 28 persons were arrested on the 17th day of the State of Emergency.

Of that number, three were gang related, one for homicide, one for a drug offence, 16 firearm related, five for serious offences and two for traffic offences.

For the period, a total of 1505 persons were arrested, with 435 gang related, 279 for drug offences, 348 for serious offences, 36 for homicide investigations, 99 for breach of curfew, 38 for enquiries, 241 for traffic offences and 270 for outstanding warrants.

A total of 1829 rounds of ammunition were seized, in addition to five magazines.

A total of 58 illegal firearms have been seized.
