East Bank Demerara : At about 3:30am today, three men, two of whom were armed with firearms, entered the home of Kalicharran Surujpaul, 43 years, of Prospect, East Bank Demerara, and held him up along with his wife.
The perpetrators ransacked the home and took away a sum of cash, a quantity of jewellery, two lap top computers and two cell phones.
While the robbery was in progress alert neighbouring residents informed the police who responded promptly and confronted the men as they were escaping. One man was arrested and an unlicensed 9 mm. pistol with four rounds recovered along with the two stolen computers. The other two perpetrators managed to escape.
The man is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
