Armed bandits robbed Chinese restaurant at Berbice

downloadBerbice : The Detectives in ‘B’ Division are investigating a report of robbery under arms committed on a Chinese national residing at Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, which occurred between 1:30 a.m. today.

Investigations have so far revealed that the victim Lin Yu Qiang, 33 years, who operates a “Chinese Restaurant” at the bottom flat of the two storey building, was awaken by a noise in the restaurant and upon checking was confronted by four  masked men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass.

They then demanded cash and valuables. The sum of $50,000.00, two laptop computers and a phone were handed over to the men who also ransacked the premises and escaped but not before injuring the victim to the back of his head with the gun, during a struggle.

The police responded promptly but no arrests have yet been made. The victim was taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

Investigations are ongoing.
