APNU calls on Government to explain work done by crashed American aircraft

Georgetown : A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) in a release today express its condolences on the loss of life of the two persons who died in the crash of an aircraft at Sparendaam East Coast Demerara yesterday afternoon. The complete demolition of the home of Ms. Florence Dyer-Tyndall is also regretted.

APNU notes that the foreign registered aircraft was allegedly on a survey for the Amalia Falls Road and questions the absence of any local personnel on such a flight. APNU also questions whether this survey should not have been done prior to the contracts for construction of the Amalia Fall Road being awarded.

APNU calls on the government to give a full explanation to the Guyanese people on the work which was allegedly being done on the Amalia Falls Road (as it relates to this downed aircraft).

This aircraft accident which follows closely upon fatal accidents in the riverain areas of Guyana, highlights the need for greater safety measure in the transport sector, which the Minister of Transport must address as a matter of urgency.
