Another Guyanese held in Suriname following drug bust

Georgetown: Local drug enforcement agencies and police have been informed about the growing concern of drug trafficking between Guyana and Suriname. The latest bust unearthed some 21 kilos of cocaine carrying a street value of almost US$7000. Four suspects from Nickerie, Suriname were held and among them a Guyanese. Surinamese Police Corps seized four vehicles and other articles in the bust. They believe that the cocaine originated from Guyana and that the traffickers are part of a ring operating in the two neighboring countries. Surinamese authorities said that criminals are going to continue devising new ways of trafficking drugs with an escalating price for the substance in the North.
