Another arrest in connection with Curacao gold heist

Curacao :  Police in Curacao, led by the public prosecutor, have arrested a prominent local business man, G.A.R. Pizziola (51), in connection with last November’s armed robbery of gold bars from a fishing vessel docked in Curacao.Authorities also carried out house searches on Tuesday morning, seizing miscellaneous items. Property belonging to Pizziola was also reportedly seized at a local bank as part of the investigation.The crew of the vessel Summer Bliss, which docked in Curacao on November 30, 2012, were robbed at gunpoint during the night hours. The robbers stole 79 gold bars believed to have originated in Guyana and valued at $11.5 million.Authorities in Curacao had previously arrested seven suspects, of which one was later released. The other suspects are still being interrogated.Police in Curacao also seized two of the gold bars at a local jewelry store in Willemstad. Other bars were reportedly confiscated in Miami, Florida, and 11 gold bars arriving from Curacao were seized earlier this month by authorities in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
