Alicia Bess to represent Guyana at Miss Jamzone international pageant

alicia b thisGeorgetown: Of the Guyanese beauties who competed to represent Guyana at the 2013 Miss Jamzone international pageant, 23-year-old Alicia Nichola Bess won the coveted title.

This graduate of the St Roses and St Josephs High Schools was crowned last evening. Alicia is a former employee of Republic Bank is the Admin Manager at Au drilling inc. an Australian Drilling Company and is also a student of School of the Nations. The international pageant is slated for August August 21 and the first prize is US$10,000. 

 Bess won the title over Ashley Cameron and Christel Mittelholzer through a month long reality television process aired on HJtv Ch 72. Ultimately the public had a hand in selecting the queen through text-voting. 

Jovan Wilson who won the 2011 Miss Guyana Jamzone crown walked away with $3million while last years queen also became an instant millionaire. It is not yet clear what prize Bess has won aside from the title and the chance to represent Guyana.

 

Since the pageant has gone International no Guyanese has ever kept the crown home while Jamaica has won twice and Trinidad once. The queens thus far are Miss Lesa Gayle Wee Thom in 2010 and the 2012 reigning queen is Miss Kerrie Baylis of Jamaica also. Miss Jamzone International 2011 is Journalist/Model Davia Chambers!

The most outstanding Jamzone international queen to date queen to date is the holder of the first win in 2010, Miss Lisa Gayle Wee Thom. She has gone on to win the title of Miss Humanity International 2012 staged in Barbados wearing the Miss Jamzone crown while Miss Guyana Universe Me Leesa Payne copped the second spot in that international pageant.
