Airport workers plan all-night vigil

Piarco: Workers of the Airports Authority will be staging an all night vigil at the north terminal of the airport tonight, saying they intend to use it to pray for the Chief Personnel Officer and the Minister of Finance to finalise remuneration issues that have been pending since 2005.

The workers say they have received the siupport of Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner on the issue.

They say they will be praying for a fair decision based on an evaluation to bring salaries to market rates.

They argue that Airport Authority wages when compared to salaries in similar bodies in the Caribbean are 30 percent lower than the market rate.
