Aircraft crash-lands at Kurupung, businessman injured

Georgetown: An aircraft shuttling between the Kurupung Top and Kurupung Bottom airstrip crashed landed with a local businessman Saturday.Two persons were on board the six-seater aircraft with the pilot. The injuries sustained were not life- threatening.The Air Services Limited (ASL) Cessna 206 aircraft crashed on landing at the Kurupung airstrip, Cuyuni/Mazaruni around 15:00hrs. The pilot Chris King, a local businessman, sustained a broken hip and other injuries after the aircraft bearing registration 8R-CNK flipped on landing. The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is investigating the incident. In June, 2016 the right wing of an ASL aircraft exploded at the Eugene F Correia International Airport, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) launched an investigation into another incident, this time involving an Air Services Limited (ASL) Cessna aircraft. The accident occurred at the Bath Aerodrome, West Coast Berbice.

An Air Services Limited (ASL) Cessna 206 aircraft, registered as 8R-GMA, had an accident while taking off from Bath Aerodrome and it was revealed that there were five occupants onboard the aircraft, all of whom were ASL officers. They were provided with immediate support and luckily did not sustain any injuries, ASL management reported. Furthermore, it said, in accordance with protocol, the GCAA was informed about the accident and was conducting the requisite investigation. Notwithstanding this, ASL has launched its own internal investigation. The management of ASL said it was awaiting the findings of the Investigative Report from the GCAA.
