Agencies affected by Budget cuts will be paid soon- Dr. Luncheon

Georgetown : Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President today assured that the agony of the staff of the various entities that have been affected by lack of funding as a result of budget cuts, will soon come to an end as payments are expected to be made available soon.

Dr. Luncheon reminded of the number of entities that have been affected by the decision of the Opposition to withhold approval for the entire appropriation for programme one under the Office of the President.

Some of the subvention agencies affected include: Government Information Agency, National Communications Network, Presidential Guard Service, Civil Defence Commission, Guyana Office for Investment, Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Guyana Energy Agency, Integrity Commission, and Office of the Commissioner of Information.

The 2014 Appropriation Act was passed in April in the Parliament subsequent to the $37.4B, cut from the $220B National budget.
