AFC elects new leadership

 

East Coast Demerara : The Alliance For Change elected a new team of Leaders at the conclusion of a successful National Conference held yesterday at the St. Paul’s Retreat Center in Vryheid’s Lust on the East Coast of Demerara.

The Party’s Third National Conference brought together 147 delegates with representation from all ten region of Guyana including the overseas chapters and the diaspora.

This historic “Changing of the Guard” saw former Chairman Khemraj Ramjattan being elected Leader of the Party and Nigel Hughes the new Chairman. Both candidates ran unopposed.

The new Vice Chairman is Moses Nagamootoo who was elected with a huge majority of the vote cast for the position.

David Patterson was elected the AFC’s new  General Secretary along with  twelve members of the National Executive Council who include Raphael Trotman, Cathy Hughes, Dominic Gaskin, Gerhard Ramsaroop, Sixtus Edwards, Rajendra Bissessar, Michael Carrington, Trevor Williams, Valerie Williams, Cindy Sookdeo, Verasammy Ramaya and Dr. Rohan Somar.

Former Chairman of the Alliance For Change, Raphael Trotman announce publically earlier this year that he would not be contesting  any leadership positions given his recent election as Speaker of the National Assembly.
