Additional Pumps in 2013 for drainage

Georgetown: There are currently 126 pumps operational in Guyana yet the pumping capacity is not enough and next year government will be installing another 14 more pumps, according to Minister of Agriculture Leslie Ramsammy.

He said the main idea of having all these pumps in Guyana is to combat the flooding which comes after heavy rain falls.

Of the 14 pumps, Ramsammy said six new mobile pumps were procured as part of an arrangement with EXIM Bank, India in a partnership between the Government of Guyana and the Government of India will arrived in Guyana in January 2013 while the remaining 8 will arrive in March, next year.
