Action Team carried Barbados through the economic strom says Prime Minister

Bridgetown.

Barbados has been able to weather the economic strom, partly through the work of Barbados Action Team which was set up in March this year, says  Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

In the keynote address to the 19th annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados, Stuart said the team, which consists of working groups and the Social Partnership, has dealt  primary with  with efficiency, growth and the social safety net.

In addition, the Prime Minister said Government had assisted the private sector keeping the Four Seasons resort project afloat and assisting Crane Beach in successfully sourcing funds from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank.

"Now we are trying to have Almond Beach Village rebuild quickly to restore rooms, create employment during its refurbishment and provide eventual permanent employment for at least 1000 people", Stuart said.
