According to autopsy narcotics detective shot twice in head

Berbice. Slain Detective Corporal Jirbahan Dianand who was found dead in his car at Jackson Creek, Corentyne Berbice last Friday may have been gunned down by someone he knew.

Acting Police Commissioner Leroy Brumell  earlier today told media operatives  that a post-mortem examination was conducted on the remains of the slain police narcotics agent, which revealed that that he was shot twice to his head at close range.

Brumell noted that from reports received, it seems that the 23-year-old agent was murdered by someone with whom he was associated or someone very close to him.

He also posited that there was no evidence which suggested that the murdered detective might have been shot from outside of his vehicle but rather he was shot within the vehicle.

He was shot once to his ear and once to his forehead. The gunshot to his ear exited upwards, while the one to his forehead exited at the back of his head.

The windows of the heavily-tinted motor car were wound up when the body was discovered, and there was no shattered windscreen or broken windows.

There were no spent shells at the scene, but a few warheads were recovered. At least five persons are in custody, including two females and a colleague of the dead man.

Dianand was credited with conducting a number of cocaine busts in an area known for a thriving drug trade across the Guyana-Suriname border and was supposed to be a part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) training, which commenced on Monday at the Police Officers’ Mess, Georgetown.
