Fire in Georgetown

    Minutes after 14hrs today fire destroyed the upper flat of a three bedroom house located at 135 waterloo Street in the capital city of Georgetown. City fire fighters responded promptly but were unable to save anything from the house.

 

At the time no one was at home.

 

 

Residents in the area were very concerned since several dilapidate structures are very close by to the house on fire and were afraid of the fire spreading to other buildings.

 

 

The firemen contained the fire even though one of the three fire engines had no water and was forced to pump from a nearby trench.

 

Five persons are left homeless which includes one child.
