FLASH FLOODING IN EAST &; CENTRAL

Rain once again reeked havoc as flood prone areas experienced flash floodings. Sangre Grande and Mafeking Village,’Mayaro,were most affected in the east. People are marooned in their homes in St Helena, caymans,snakes and other vermons were said to have surfaced with the flood waters. Motor vehicles had to be towed after getting stuck in the flood. Relief efforts and measures are being put to place by the ODPN and the
Regional Corporation to assist those directly affected by the floods.

ELDERLY WOMAN ROBBED, GRANDSON STABBED

A 20-year-old was beaten and stabbed while trying to rescue his grandmother from robbers. At Gittens Street,Tacarigua,at 9:30 last night bandits entered Cheng’s home one of the men had a gun,the elderly woman raised an alarm and her grandson who lives next door rushed to see what the commotion was about, he encountered two men beating his grandmother,he intervened and then they turned on him and dealt some blows about the body before stabbing him several times in the back. The bandits escaped on foot with cash,a laptop and cell phones. Police officers visited the scene and took the victims for medical treatment.
