CAL confirmed death of a passenger

Port of Spain.

Caribbean Airlines (CAL) today confirmed that a 35 year-old passenger, who had taken ill on a flight from Miami to Trinidad and Tobago died in Puerto Rico where the plane was forced to land after the male passenger began suffering “from a medical condition”.

CAL communications manager Clint Williams, speaking on local radio here said that flight BW483 with 91 passengers on board had to be diverted to Puerto Rico on Thursday night where paramedics and an ambulance were waiting to take the passenger to hospital.

“Sadly we learnt that he expired on the way to the hospital,” said Williams, adding that the illness had nothing to do with the passenger consuming anything during the flight.

He said the passenger was travelling with his father and another brother “but we are not in a position to say their names at this time” nor is the airline in position “to discuss private medical conditions” of the passenger, whose nationality was also not disclosed.
