New cash for gold rules

Bridgetown.

The Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF)  has announced its intention to fully enforce the provisions of the Precious Metals and Second Hand Metals Act.

Police Public Relations Officer of the RBPF  Inspector David Welch, told the press  people who intend to operate in this field must  immediately register in order to comply with the applicable legal requirements.

He said it’s a legal requirement for people who are registered as either precious metals dealers or second hand metals dealers to operate from a fixed and registered location.

Welch noted that the practice of encouraging people, through advertisement to meet at places other than a registered site to purchase metals should be discontinued as this facilitates the commission of a crime.
