Georgetown : The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about at Avenue of the Republic and Robb Street, Georgetown, and which resulted in the death of pedestrian Rajmattie Ram, 73 years, of Triumph, East Coast Demerara.
Investigations have revealed that Rajmattie Ram was struck down by a motor lorry at the junction with Robb Street. She was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
