16-year-old female student stabbed by classmates

Mucurapo: A 16-year-old Form Four student of the Mucurapo Secondary School has been stabbed and beaten in a classroom and is tonight warded at  the St James Medical Complex.

This follows a brutal attack by some of her peers while in a classroom. Police reports are that around 2pm, the teenager was braiding another student's hair when a third female student walked in and started criticising the hair style.

A heated exchange of words erupted. The third student allegedly grabbed a chair and started clobbering the student who was plaiting the girl's hair.

Investigators say two other teens joined the third girl and they allegedly stabbed the girl. Eventually an alarm was raised and the student was taken to the St James Medical Complex  where she remains warded with stab wounds to her neck, chest and hands.

Her three attackers and the weapons used in the attack have been handed over to the police.

Meanwhile relatives of the injured girl say they are upset that school officials did nothing to stop the onslaught..

St James police are continuing their investgations.
