After building the First of many buildings on a plot of land Chinese engineers decided to add a underground parking lot before starting the second building.
An underground Garage of a depth of 4.6 meters was dug on the north side and the earth was piled on the south side of the apartment building.
The building experienced uneven lateral pressure from north to south. After a prolonged rainy period the building began to tilt and the concrete pilings were broken due the uneven lateral force.
If these buildings were any closer we would have had a domino effect.
