10 year-old shot in face by police in Linden

Guyana’s second largest, singular political outfit, the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) has come out with severe condemnation of recent Joint Services Operations in the mining town of Linden, which has left several more injured.

The party has singled out for severe criticism the injury of a 10 year-old lad in the community, who according to reports was shot while ‘standing in his yard.’

The PNCR in an official missive today says it deplores “the shooting in the face of 10-year old Nkosi Henry while he was standing in his yard at One Mile Wismar on 12th August.”

It also “expressed alarm at the sudden and substantial police and military build-up and the violent nature of the ‘offensive’ in Linden which are out of proportion to the passive resistance by residents."

The opposition party "calls for a reduction of police and military forces which are serving only to incense an already tense population.”
