Fazeer Mohammed, the host of the morning talk show on State-owned television station  Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG) has been sent home for an apparent bust up with Foreign Affairs Minister Suruj Rambachan on the "First Up" morning  show last week.
Mohammed is reported to have said according to Islam women are not allowed to be in a leadership position in reference to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Andy Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Government Information Services Limited (GISL) has reportedly replaced Mohammed.

Murray recently emphasized that accountability and transparency will be hallmarks of his Administration. He was speaking to residents and the business community of Essequibo. Murray affirmed, among other things, that shared governance was an important tool in the efforts to resolve the country’s problems and moving it forward. Murray explained that there would be zero tolerance for corruption. Ministers will be asked to sign on to a Code of Conduct and any breach of the Code will result in instant dismissal.

THE CLICO fiasco can cause the death of credit unions if not properly addressed.
Lincoln Beckles, the President of the Association of Cooperative and Credit Union Presidents made the statement after a meeting with Food Production Minister Vasant Bharath today. Beckles said more than half this country’s credit union could collapse as a result of the CLICO fiasco.

 

THE Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) owes contractors some $8 billion.
This was the statement made by Food Production Minister Vasan Bharath today after a meeting with representatives from the Association of Cooperative and Credit Union Presidents.
Bharath said government had many debtors and it would be difficult to find a middle ground to help all.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) also owes some $4 billion in outstanding debt.
 

 Tomorrow the GTU/MOE National Schools swimming championships will start, but the Olympic size national swimming pool will not be used. The 50m pool was scheduled to be commissioned on November 4th. According to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport the contractor did not complete the one million US dollar facility even though the pool itself is ready.There are still some landscaping and other works to be done.The Ministry will announce the formal opening date of the sporting facility in due course.The schools championships will swim off at Colgrain House pool at Camp Street.
