Sophia,Georgetown – Leader of the PNC/R Robert Corbin today dispatched a letter to the Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir stating, “November 22, 2010 will mark one year since the Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc. , BGCI, (RUSAL), in retaliation to strike action by the Bauxite and General Workers Union, issued suspension and dismissal letters to most of the workers, fifty-seven (57) of whom were union activists.

Five days, three armed robberies as bandits go on rampage across the country, even with heightened security by the Guyana Police Force. A marathon session of the Lower House is expected in the Parliament today as debate on wire tapping is scheduled to begin. The Interception Bill entitled was laid in Parliament last week Friday following a statement by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar that several public figures were being illegally wire-tapped by an illegal police unit. The bill proposes the National Security Ministry authorise interception of communications rather than the Prime Minister. A special majority is needed for the Bill’s passage.
 

 Port Kaituma – November 18th, 2010 marks 32 years since 918 people died at Jonestown, Port Kaituma, Guyana at the hands of the then People’s Temple leader Jim Jones. There was no formal observance of this historic event here in Guyana, but in California, USA according to the Associated Press, Jim Jones Jr. an adapted son of Jim Jones said four large stone slabs with the names of 900 will be constructed at the mass grave at San Francisco.
