“Unions and Guysuco need more cooperation for the company’s turnaround plan to work”says Dr. Luncheon.

Georgetown – Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon said the Government feels the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) is not supportive to Guysuco’s turnaround plan and their intentions are to frustrate the cooperation.

He pointed out to the recent actions taken by the union which aims to shift focus on the achievement of Guysuco’s 2010 target plan in relation to production.

Dr. Luncheon explained that Government has not made a decision as to whether the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) will be applied.
The Labour Ministry has been tasked with expressing Government’s concerns to the unions, employers and workers about events that precipitate industrial action and the need for a more harmonious environment to be maintained.
