Corentyne river bridge link to Suriname is moving a paste.

Corentyne,Berbice – The government information agency today reported, President Bharrat Jagdeo while speaking with reporters at the Little Rock Hotel in Berbice yesterday disclosed that a technical team comprising Guyanese and Surinamese will meet within two weeks to agree on technical issues that would be key to the soliciting of bids for the bridge across the Corentyne River. Suriname’s President Desi Bouterse returned with President Jagdeo after the latter’s visit to the neighbouring country on Friday.

The two Heads of State indicated that erecting the bridge across the border river was high on their agenda to press forward with trade and other bilateral ties, that Guyana and Suriname are seeking Chinese investment to construct the bridge and the project was advanced during President Jagdeo’s visit to Nickerie.

President Jagdeo noted that a clear case has been made for the bridge’s construction when one examines the length of time taken to travel via the Canawaima Ferry, and that the Surinamese President had the will to commit to the project.
