Over 220 persons will benefit from the $40M investment at Paradise on the East Coast of Demerara, where 52 families were allocated lots.
Minister of Housing and Water Irfaan Ali said the allocation for many is an end to years of sacrifice that families have made while renting properties or sharing residences with other family members. Ali today at the Ministry’s 7th One-Stop-Shop said that the land allocation plan is a dynamic one that is so designed to match the economic environment in the country.
Minister Ali reiterated that the Ministry’s housing development mandate includes being able to capitalize on good investment opportunities that would produce good returns. In this regard the Ministry facilitates public/private partnership where the private sector partners with Government in making house lots available. He added that the Ministry has been working aggressively towards fulfilling its target of distributing 5500 house lots for 2010. “We set a very high, very competitive but, realistic target for allocation of house lots. Our target this year is 5500 and we are committed to this target,” he added.
