Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Chief-of-Staff, Commodore Gary Best this morning declared that the commander-in-chief of the armed forces President Bharrat Jagdeo released $40M GD to complete the construction of a Veteran’s Home.
The chief of staff was at the time addressing army veterans and members of the Guyana Defence Force at a function to honoured those who served in the military and para-military of British Guiana and Guyana, such as the British West India Regiment, the South Caribbean Forces, the West Indies Regiment, the British Guiana Militia, the British Guiana Volunteer Force, the GDF and the Guyana Peoples Militia at the Veterans Monument at Camp Ayanganna, Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
The Army chief also said, there will be a unit set up at Base Camp Ayangana to deal with the welfare of the country’s veterans.
