At the wreath-laying ceremony for the fallen heroes of the two World Wars, at the Cenotaph, Main Street , Georgetown , the President said that the world is forever indebted to them for their “supreme sacrifice in the cause of freedom and peace.” He said too that the occasion should also be used to recall similar sacrifices made by those who have continually struggled for human dignity, social justice and freedom from oppression, over the years.
On the occasion of Remembrance Day, President Bharrat Jagdeo, on behalf on the citizens of Guyana, rededicated all Guyanese to the pursuit of peace everywhere, and renewed the nation’s commitment to the development and wellbeing of Guyana.
