‘A’ division commander George Vyphuis speaking at the Guyana Police Force’s Christmas security plans said serious crimes committed in ‘A’ division (Georgetown) has reduced for this year. His statistics shows that 28 murders were committed in 2009 compared to 31 in 2010 in the division.Simple larceny recorded a total of 567 in 2009 and 490 in 2010 while robbery under arms committed in 2009 were 395 and 341 in 2010.
Robbery with aggravation decreased from 57 in 2009 to 52 in 2010 while robbery with violence also reduced from 96 in 2009 to 53 in 2010.
At that meeting the Police failed to give a countrywide statistics of the crime rate in Guyana for 2010, but only focused on ‘A’ division, for the month of September.
