Thousands turned out to get a glimpse of Diwali Motorcade 2010

The festival of lights will be celebrated in Guyana tomorrow and thousands of people tonight gathered along the East Coast of Demerara sea wall to view the motorcade.
The procession which consisted of fourteen floats, cars, trucks and even a horse cart departed from the Sri Krishna mandir in Campbellville. The motorcade proceeded along the East Coast highway and headed for the LBI ground where a cultural programme and judging of the lighted vehicles.
The main address will be done by the President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud. Regular guest speaker President Bharrat Jagdeo this year will unable to attend the function.
At last year’s programme Pandit Persaud, a former PPP government minister publicly endorsed Doctor Jagdeo for a third term as President.
