Police Commissioner Henry Greene this morning said a number of additional ranks from the tactical service unit will be deployed to commercial areas of the country from November 15th 2010 to January 15th 2011.
In Georgetown police will be on foot patrol in uniform and plain clothes around the main business areas armed and equipped with radio sets. The top cop stressed that particularly in and around the stabroek market areas people must be able to walk freely and be safe from criminal elements.
The foot patrols will also be backed up by motor cycle patrols working on a shift system 24hrs a day.
