Charity, Essequibo
Vendors at Charity market who ply their business on a tarmac are claiming that the new appointed National Democratic Council’s (NDC) Chairman Kenneth Persaud is moving some of the vendors to another area.
Persaud said the tarmac was constructed to accommodate about one hundred and twenty stalls and there are now one hundred and fifty vendors and the council have to find another area since the tarmac is congested.
The vendors who were identify to move claims that the new area suggested is way pass the market and this will affect their sales. They also complain of the unfair move by the NDC to move persons that were there first and putting new vendors on the tarmac.
The Market only operates on Monday, which is popularly known at Charity market day.
The tarmac was constructed by the Canadian and Guyana Governments to the tune of twenty one million dollars.
