Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud today commissioned a show room which is a replica of a complete wooden house at Beterverwagting, produced by the Guyana Furniture Manufacturing (GFM).
Minister Persaud said the five million dollar investment will give Guyanese options and what is available using the country’s forest products.
He encouraged the management not to compromise on quality and standars since the GFM has the largest kiln-drying facility in the region and attracts both local and overseas markets.
GMF chairman Mohabeer Singh said the company’s vision over the next five years is to invest in new facilities to further expand their processing line.
He called on Guyanese to treat timber as gold at the same time keep in line with the low carbon development strategy.
