GDF celebrates 45 years of service to the nation

The Guyana Defense force open it week long activities in observing its 45th anniversary with hoisting the national flag, the Golden Arrow Head on Mount Ayanganna this morning.

Chief of staff Commodore Gary Best in a press statement said “the Guyana Defence force has made a unique contribution to the development of the Guyana and I hasten to assure you that we stand postured to continually transform to suit the changing and emerging threats to territorial integrity, sovereignty and security.
The force is using certain transformational tools to deal with these emerging challenges: we have completed our organizational analysis and are currently undergoing a strategic defence review process. This will inform our strategic defence plan and our multi-year development plan.
We invite the public, in turn, to assist us wherever possible. Assist us in defending our borders; assist us in maintaining a stable secure environment, assist us in identifying rogue elements and encouraging ranks who have deserted to return. “
Among the activities planned for this week are church service, military tattoo and medal parade.
