Sharma’s lawyer writes to DPP and AG on President Comments- carnal knowledge saga

CN Sharma legal representative Nigel Hughes today dispatched a letter to the Director of Public Prosecutor Shalimar Hack and Attorney General Charles Ramson citing that his client will no longer get a free and fair trial based on comments made by President Bharrat Jagdeo at his October 22nd Press Conference.

According to Hughes, the statements made by the President clearly show of a personal problem with the controversial talk show host since the matter is before the court.
The JFAP leader arrived in Guyana at 7:30 am today not completing his full treatment in Canada to appear for his next court appearance which is schedule for November 10, 2010.
Sharma left Guyana a month ago after collapsing from a heart attack and sought medical attention in Trinidad and Canada. His passport was released by the court to travel overseas.
An excerpt of the comments the President made is “. So I’m very concerned about this matter and it seems as though people with money and influence can get anything done. They can abuse our kids, they can do whatever they please. Be caught with a gun and get bail although it’s a non-bailable offence simply because they have some position of influence or money and this is wrong. So I hope that the DPP will look into the concerns that you raise and approach the same court that allowed him to leave the country to get him back here is what you say is right that he might have used this as a ploy to escape prosecution.”
