Hundreds of public officers have heeded the call of the Public Service Association (PSA) to stay away from work today in protest against an one percent salary increase. The Government yesterday issued a release stating that if the PSA’s wage offer is to be implemented the budget deficit will increase by $4 billion. Public officers are currently gathered outside the Ministry of Finance on Independence Square in Port of Spain getting ready to march through the streets.
