President Bharrat Jagdeo, this afternoon sworn in six new members on the Public Service Commission at the office of the President. The new members are Cecil Sewpersaud, Vera Naughton, Ganga Persaud, Vedyamattie Looknauth and Carvil Duncan.
Within recent days the President of the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) Patrick Yard has been expressing strong accusations against the Government of Guyana (GOG) over the approval of Parliament to consult with the Public Service Senior Staff Association and the ‘Federation of Union of Government Employees (FUGE) over the appointment of a member to serve on the Public Service Commission.
The GOG in supporting the issue of wider consultation outside of the GPSU is firmly grounded on industrial relations practices and principles.
