The Opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) is slamming press secretary Garvin Nicholas for claims he made during an interview this morning.
During the interview on i95.5fm Nicholas said that over the last eight years under the PNM administration, no increases were made to Old Age Pension /Senior Citizens’ Grant. The Office of the Opposition Leader today sent a release condemning Nicholas’ statements.
"This statement is absolutely false since the Old Age pension/Senior Citizens Grant was increased six times over the period 2002 to 2010," the release stated.
"It is unfortunate that Government’s reneging on its commitment to pensioners is causing the Press Secretary to consistently attempt to mislead the population in an effort to justify the Government’s unacceptable behavior," the release stated.
