Guyanese boxers abscond from commonwealth games to the US

President of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association Steve Ninval said it is disappointing to disclose to Guyanese that three of their countrymen who left to represent Guyana at the Commonwealth games in India have absconded to the United states of America.

The absconders are 21-year old Clevon Rock, 21-year old Dexter Jordan, and 24-year old  Devon Boatswain.

Ninvalle described the act as selfish and unprofessional, citing that this will create further problems for boxers to acquire a US visa, something that has been a problem over the years.

The association has already informed immigration officials at the John F. Kennedy International Airport and the United States embassy in Guyana, and are in contact with their relatives in Guyana.
