Guysuco lost Millions in today’s Strike action

Thousands of sugar workers across the country today down tools at the troubled Guyana Sugar Corporation calling for a 15% increase in wages.
The strike was organized by the General Workers Union (GAWU).
According to a spokesperson attached to the Union, workers would get an increase every year in the month of October, but this did not happen this year.
Guysuco’s management wanted the workers to continue work while the union goes back to the board for further negotiations.
This strike action will cost the company to lose some 800,000 USD for the day.
