UWI lecturers up in arms today

A total lockdown of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) is scheduled for today. The West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) has promised no classes, no use of the library and a lockdown of all facilities in protest of what they term a disrespectful wage offer. UWI has offered the lecturers an one per cent salary increase over three years, WIGUT president Dr Godfrey Steele has said.
