Gov’t wants more young people in Agriculture

Government is on a drive to have more young people involved in agriculture and food production, Agriculture Minister Vasant Bharath has said. Bharath says Government intends to revamp all incentives to ensure this happens. Bharath made the statement during the graduation ceremony of 31 young persons in the youth apprenticeship programme in agriculture. Bharath said this country’s food import bill was approximately $4 billion in the last year and if lore citizens get involved in agriculture this bill will be drastically reduced.
