Local Government Minister targets La Penitence Vendors

More than 50 vendors that operate on the road shoulders at La Penitence Market will be driven off by the Ministry of Local Government.
Local Government Minister Kellawan Lall said because of the heavy traffic the vendors will have to move for their own safety, but the vendors said they have been selling their for decades and no notices were given to them. They said if the road is too busy then speed humps should be constructed.
Minister Lall cleared the air and said vendors should be working in the Market that is provided and not near the road. Operations will commence later this week to remove the stalls.
