New Amsterdam-Berbice B’ Division Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Steve Marai this morning visited the robbery victims at lot 21 St. Magdolene Street New Amsterdam after armed bandits assaulted a family and carted off with $750,000 GC and $800.00 US currency and a quantity of gold jewellery.Marai said his ranks will go the extra mile to make sure that his division is under control and not taken over by destructive elements.Berbice division recently received an armored vehicle to assist in reducing crime in that area.
Over the past months armed robberies have escalated across the country.
