Family still traumatized after shooting of two brothers by bandits

Four bullets are still lodged in the abdomen of young Bridgemohan Khemlall, who is a patient at the high dependency unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital. TrakkerNews today visited the lad who seemed stable but in a bit of pain as he tried to talk to us from his hospital bed. The 24 year old, said that the doctors told him that his condition was stable although the bullets were still lodged. He told us that they assured him that nothing was seriously damaged and that the bullets are not in a difficult position to extract. He recounted the ordeal that fateful night, saying that the two criminals seemed to be amateurs the way they operated, and the one who shot him four times, seemed determined to have him killed, judging from the look in his eyes.

His family was sitting home with the younger Premnauth, age 22 who was shot in the thigh and hand. Premnauth was treated and sent home earlier today. We visited the home in Cornelia Ida on the West Coast, where family members expressed shock at the series of events on Thursday evening that still remain fresh in their minds. The injured mother Pharbattie Khemlall, who was gun butted on the head explained that she is still trying to understand why the bandits targeted a poor family. But according to reports from the police today, it seems that the real target was a goldsmith living a few houses away. From all indications it seems that the bandits hit the wrong house, since the family did say that they were adamant about giving up the jewelery and money. The boys mother explained that the bandits made off with just over $30,000 dollars in cash and jewelery.

TrakkerNews was informed that the Police arrested 5 suspects for questioning in connection with the robbery. The family is now fearful, but explained that they just cannot pack up and leave their home. One aunt said that the area is normally quite and the last robbery was next door 5 years ago. They commended the Police for responding on time to track down the criminals who made their escape through the bushes at the back of the house. During the chase one of the robbers was shot, since police followed a trail of blood.

The ranks returned with tracking dogs but did not manage to pick up any other trail.
