Sections of society believe that Human Service Minister Priya Manickchand should resign in the face of all facts relating to 16 year old Neesa Gopaul who was brutally killed almost a week now. Some citizens are not taking it for granted that the Minister all of a sudden is making promises and is very outspoken on the girls death. The Minister in earlier reports blamed her staff for failing to follow up on Neesa’s case of which the Ministry has knowledge of an abuse. The public now believes that the Minister is waisting her time shifting blame since it is her duty as Minister to be proactive on these matters, particularly in a case which now proved the Ministry’s failure. The events leading up to the student’s death was sufficient reason for immediate action, which perhaps might have saved her life today.
