A mini bus filled with people coming from the East Coast Of Demerara to the capital city early this morning said they are very lucky to be alive.
A speeding car PGG 1339 travelling south along Wellington Street, Lacytown, ignored a stop sign and lashed in to the Mini Bus BHH 3571 which was travelling west along North Road. After the collision the car ended up into a nearby trench and a building.
Shaken passengers in the bus were rushed to a city hospital. Reports out of the hospital stated that six of ten passengers sustained injuries and were treated and discharged. The car driver escaped unhurt.
For this year more than 75 persons lost their lives to reckless drivers and the police have since beefed up their campaign against motorists not adhering to the road laws.
