Berbice truck, car collision leaves five dead

Berbice: Five persons are dead as a result of a truck and car collision Sunday on the #59 Village Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.

Dead are 42-year-old Sabita Manglani, her 18-year-old son Emmanuel Manglani, her other son 5-year-old Ethan Ramjeet,  Reshma Seeram and Dhanpaul Kishandayal.

Police said they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 13:45hrs involving motor car PPP 3394 driven by 37 year-old Dhanpaul Kishandyal (deceased) of First Street, Bel Air, Georgetown and motor lorry GZ 2764 driven by Doodram Singh, 30 years, of #49 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

Kishandayal who only arrived in Guyana from the United States some three weeks ago.

Enquiries disclosed that motor car PPP 3394 was proceeding south along the eastern side of the #59 Village Public Road allegedly at a fast rate when it collided with motor lorry GZ 2764 which was proceeding in the opposite direction.

Dead: Dhanpaul Kishandayal
 As a result of the impact, the driver of the motor car and its occupants sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead on arrival at the Skeldon Public Hospital. The bodies are currently at the Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

 The driver of the motor lorry is admitted a patient at the said hospital in a serious condition. Investigation in progress.
